You’d be from a different galaxy if you were not aware of the latest Marvel movie – Deadpool and Wolverine. Being the last hope for Marvel fans, Deadpool and Wolverine have caused havoc amongst the “cool Marvel reading nerds” and since it is a cult now, the non-marvel fans (the abnormal people) have at least heard of it once, and thanks to their exceptional advertising tactics even Pluto is now painted in yellow and red.
The movie’s power lies in its strong cameos and references. Earning about $1.0448 billion in a month, Deadpool and Wolverine dominate the box office like Alexander the Great dominated the world.
From bringing back the X-Men to having Henry Cavill’s cameo, the director sure knew how to hook the audience. The movie has various Easter eggs which can be seen in the movie for the future timeline. If you haven’t seen the movie, then spoiler alert!!

Time Variance Authority
The MCU has been hinting at the possibility of a multi-verse since the 2016 Dr. Strange movie. The web series Loki which was released in 2021 officially started the MCU’s multi-verse Timeline theme.
The TVA’s (Time Variance Authority) involvement in the movie makes you wonder where would this storyline lead to, and more importantly how all the characters that were involved in previous multiverse-related movies would come together.
For example, “WHY WAS THOR CRYING” is still a mystery for the audience (as well as for Deadpool). Many such interesting cameos and Easter eggs were hidden in the movie throughout.
The concept of Anchor Beings too has been discussed in the movie. Anchor beings are those special characters that are vital for maintaining individual universes’ stability. They prevent reality degradation and may be related to Nexus Beings.
This introduction of Anchor Being could add up to something more special in upcoming movies.
Hunter B-15’s character also appeared in the movie as the current leader of TVA hinting towards more of her badass-ness in future of MCU, with a lot of multiverse-related ideologies mixed with it.
The concept of having “free will” has been the underlying theme since Loki Season 1 and was talked about a lot in this movie. This could strongly mean that Deadpool and Loki or Hunter B-15 would cross paths with each other in upcoming Marvel movies.
Comic Book References
Fox Studios made it a point to get all the comic book references right throughout the whole movie. I would say it was a great move to up the game and take it to the next nostalgic level. A lot of variants of Wolverine were taken from different editions of the comics. The Cowboy Deadpool was first featured in the 2010 comic “Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #7” as a variant from Earth-1108.
Cassandra Nova’s evil lair is made from the decaying corpse of Ant-Man. The same massive dead body was also in the “Old Man Logan” comics, and the location was called “Pym Falls.”
Wolverine’s debut in the comics was in the 180th issue of “The Incredible Hulk”. Both the hotheads had a million face-offs in the comics. Recreating the famous comic cover of the Hulk’s face is reflected in Wolverine’s claws as they face off, Hulk’s cameo won viewers’ hearts.

Wolverine’s variant Patch, who is one of Logan’s comic-book alter-egos from an undercover mission in Madripoor, too had his screen time in the movie.
The Wolverine undoubtedly has many famous Marvel comic book covers, but his most iconic feature of him tied to an X-shaped crucifix on top of a pile of skulls during the “Fever Dream” storyline, gave chills down every Marvel head’s spine.
Reintroducing Beloved Characters
It is a well-known fact that Wolverine is an X-Man, rather than a deceased X-man. The 2017 movie Logan ended on a very gloomy note because Wolverine died saving another variant Laura, otherwise known as X-23. Reintroducing Laura in Deadpool and Wolverine only made sense.
Her small yet powerful statement to Wolverine gave him confidence and a sense of direction in the end fight sequence. It is now no doubt that Laura could be seen in upcoming movies.
Bringing Wolverine back from the dead, though, was a well-calculated risk. At one point it’s always seeing your favourite hero being part of something new, but the question here is did bringing Wolverine back hamper his wonderful end?
Think about this, his death was deeply saddening and some of us might have even cried at that scene. His death was an end to his legacy but reintroducing him (or his variant) in one way or another disturbed this moment. And just as Deadpool said, “You’ll be playing Wolverine till you are 90.”
Of course, the movie would have been incomplete without him, and seeing Laura with him was an absolutely wholesome moment. The constant bantering between Deadpool and Wolverine too was an absolute show-stealer (after the Dogpool obviously).
Wolverine, although, isn’t the only one that Marvel is thinking of reintroducing. Just a couple of days after the movie was released; Robert Downey Jr. was introduced to play Dr. Doom in the upcoming movie Doomsday. This announcement had all the fans jumping around.
This announcement too, has divided opinions. Iron-man’s death was the ultimate heartbreak of 2019, only time will tell if the reappearance of RDJ could or could not hamper that emotional scene.
Other Cameos
After stating that he would likely not be a part of the MCU anymore, Chris Evans returned as the Human Torch in the movie. Interestingly in his first glimpse, he flashes a red and white armband, suggesting a return as his beloved Captain America.
Happy Hogan too, appeared in the start as a recruiter of the Avengers. Captain America’s shield too made a fun cameo during the conversation between Happy and Wade.
Fan theory also suggests that the clip shown of Captain America in the TVA office could hint at the possibility of Captain America coming back.
Peter Wisdom, the cute and lovely superhero in Deadpool 2, came back as Wade’s friend in Deadpool and Wolverine. Like Ned is to Spiderman, similarly Peter is to Deadpool.
The dialogue in the end fight between the Deadpools and Wolverine and the Original Deadpool, “Every Deadpool has a Peter” suggests that he might come back with a bigger role in the upcoming movies.
Where there is a multiverse, there is Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, or his Sling Ring. Appearing as the world’s saviour, the sling ring made its cameo in yet another film.
Since the MCU is exploring along the lines of the multiverse, combining Sling Ring and the TVA would only mean that there is something major cooking in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Adding more problems to our heroes, Alioth too got her screen time as she is the queen of the Void. Her appearance in the movie suggests that if Marvel continues with the “Clearing of Timeline” storyline, Alioth is going to be one of the problems or obstacles that the characters would have to face.
Throughout the whole movie, many characters make appearances that add to the success of the film. Snipes as Blade, Sabertooth (Wolverine’s biggest nemesis), Gambit Juggernaut, Psylocke (who first appeared in a minor role in “X-Men: The Last Stand) and many more. The best cameo of all has to be Cavelline.

Deadpool and Wolverine was no doubt a banger, and getting over it is not an easy job. To cure this problem, Marvel has announced a series of upcoming movies (to divert our sadness about this movie’s ending.) The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in 2025.
The movie is said to be based on Fantastic Four vs. X-Men. For certain, the two concepts shall end up in the MCU someday but we anticipate that it is Marvel’s first family who will have preference.
As many sources on the internet suggest, their premiere will be done in an alternative 1960s – a smart way of bringing them in and making up for their missing presence in the MCU all through.
Another exciting move Marvel is expected to come up with is Phase Six and Beyond. As per SDCC 2022 presentation, Phase Six will commence with the Fantastic Four and conclude with a two-part Avengers movie series encompassing years until 2027. However, it remains uncertain whether the phases still exist in the setup.
Still, at present, we are using these terms for every project that is expected to be released after Fantastic Four unless Feige updates this concept within Marvel Method.
